Dangote Industries Limited has committed approximately 2.5 billion US dollars to a major fuel storage and pipeline project in Namibia, aimed at supplying markets across southern Africa. The announcement was made by company president and CEO Aliko Dangote during the official launch of the project at Farm 58, near Walvis Bay. The planned facility will store 600 million litres of fuel, while a proposed 1,700-kilometre pipeline will connect Walvis Bay to inland markets, including Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi and parts of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Dangote said the investment would strengthen regional fuel security, reduce transportation costs and position Walvis Bay as a major petroleum distribution hub. The pipeline route and final length will still depend on engineering studies and regulatory approvals. The Presidential spokesperson Jonas Mbambo spoke to Future Media News.
