God is Righteous – The Judgment of the Cross and Salvation through Christ | Sermons & Preke with Rodney Brown

In this episode of Sermons & Preke on Radio Cape Pulpit, speaker Rodney Brown delivers a Bible message on the theme: God is Righteous. He anchors his teaching on two key Old Testament verses: Daniel 9:14 – "The Lord our God is righteous in all the works which He does" – and Genesis 18:25 – "Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?"
Rodney explains that God's righteousness means He always does what is right, even when we do not understand His ways. He uses the example of Sodom and Gomorrah (Genesis 18) – God, as the Judge of all the earth, did what was right in destroying the cities because of their sin, while also sparing Lot, a righteous man (2 Peter 2:7).
The message then turns to the cross at Calvary, where the righteousness of God was most clearly displayed. Jesus Christ – the righteous Son of God who knew no sin – was judged not for His own sins, but for ours. He bore the judgment that we deserved, so that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him (2 Corinthians 5:21). Through faith in Christ, sinners can be declared righteous and find peace with God.
Rodney closes with a hymn by Albert Midlane, which captures the truth that justice and mercy met at the cross – God can save sinners and still remain righteous. The message is an invitation to turn from sin and trust in Jesus Christ, who paid the debt in full.
