Karah's Journey with "Rejoice" - Faith at Work Podcast

In a heartfelt interview on "Faith at Work" with host Malefa , worship leader and part-time singer-songwriter Karah shared the personal journey behind her song "Rejoice" and her path to finding authentic joy.
Karah described herself as "just a normal person" who balances family life with her musical ministry. As a church worship team leader since age 21, she explained that her songwriting emerges from deeply personal experiences, particularly her struggles with anxiety and depression.
"Rejoice" was written around 2015-2016 and produced in 2017, but Karah waited until last year to release it publicly. "With God, timing is everything," she explained. "He gives you a seed now, but it's actually only for a few years' time."
Her journey to joy began with breakthrough moments of peace, followed by deeper healing from a critical spirit and unforgiveness. "He taught me to exchange that critical spirit with a grateful spirit," Karah reflected, citing 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 as her guiding scripture.
Despite initially planning to release a different song, Cara felt divine guidance to share "Rejoice" first. "I just felt so full of joy, like I'm gonna pop," she shared. "The enemy doesn't want you to be joyful because he doesn't want us to be strong."
Cara previously released an album of 14 songs in 2012, later transitioning to singles with a more contemporary church band sound. She emphasized the importance of ministering from a place of personal healing: "How can you minister to other people if you're not healed yourself?"
The interview concluded with Cara expressing hope that her music would minister to others as it has to her, particularly her song "Listen to Love," which addresses deep depression.
