Her music journey truly began in grade 2, being sent to detention for belting out song during class hours. As much as MeloJaney was disruptive in class, her school mistress made her parents know that “your daughter is talented and has a voice to take notice too”. Fast forward to the age of 15, MeloJaney developed a passion for the art of Opera. She in enrolled into Gill Ziervogel music school, after ‘normal’ school hours, this is where her 5 year classical training began. MeloJaney entered a number of Opera eisteddfod competitions which enhanced her quality of performance. 2010, she continued to pursue her passion for music and enrolled to study Musical Theatre at the Tshwane University of Technology /Art Campus. Her training consisted of Jazz; Ballet; Tap Dance; African Dance; Theatre Studies and Theatre Vocal Training.
In her final year of university, MeloJaney’s vocal coach encouraged her to make a bold move and enter into South African Idols, making it to the TOP 10, impressing our very own Simon Cowell, Randall Abrahams. This is where MeloJaney and legendary Rj Benjamin, her vocal coach and teacher on the show met and later began to work together, creating the artistry of her 2023 album. She was later discovered on the show by Theo Kgosinkwe from popular group Mafikizolo releasing her first single ‘Turning It up’. After 3 years of being signed, MeloJaney left the label to embark on a creative hiatus to focus and further her studies on brand development and strategy. "I am an artist, actor, brand, a curative. It was important for me to gain the skill to market my music and have the tools to build my brand.” MeloJaney released her EP ALBUM in 2023 CALLED ‘FINALLY ME’.
