As the world celebrates the 50th anniversary this month of the Heart Transplant in Cape Town, another major development has taken place at Groote Schuur. A team of dedicated heart surgeons, clinicians and medical engineers has perfected a heart valve that is likely to save millions of young lives particularly in poor third world countries across the globe.

The man who heads the team is Prof Peter Zilla and he will be Rodney Trudgeon’s guest this week on People of Note.
