Opposition parties in the Northern Cape Legislature says they hope that Finance, Economic Development and Tourism MEC Mac Jack will make an announcement that would improve health care to mental patients in the Northern Cape. He is set to table the provincial budget today.

The parties believes a sure sign of improved service delivery would be an announcement about the controversial Kimberley Mental Hospital. The hospital has become an albatross around the provincial government's neck as its construction was riddled with problems. It started a decade ago and was estimated at R900 million, but costs have since ballooned to R2 billion. The project was also investigated by National Rreasury.

DA MPL Boitumelo Babuseng, says he the state of mental health care in the province is in dire straits.
