Dams in Ottosdal overflowing due to heavy rain

Dams in the Ottosdal area in North West are overflowing due to heavy rain over the last 24 hours. A large farm dam's wall collapsed outside the town in the direction of Wolmaransstad yesterday. DA provincial chairperson and councillor of the Tswaiing local municipality, Carin Visser, says water from the farm dam then flowed to a local dam in the town known as the "Kleindam". Water overflowed the dam's wall entering the "Grootdam" in Ottosdal.

She says the mass of water caused damage to roads and affected traffic. She says more than 160mm of rain was measured in the area.
