Title: Colossians 1 & The Sole Headship of Christ: Guarding Against Man-Worship and Pastoral Idolatry
In this landmark 999th episode of Let’s Talk with Rocky Stevenson Pastor of Benoni Bible Church, we address a persistent, ancient danger that plagues both church history and modern ministry: elevating fallible human leaders to the place that belongs exclusively to Jesus Christ. From medieval papal claims and state-church authority to modern false prophets and subtle pastoral idolatry in our local pews, humans consistently default to worshipping what they can see.
While Scripture commands us to honour and appreciate faithful elders, there is a miles-wide boundary between biblical gratitude and man-worship. As we mark Pastor Appreciation Month and approach Reformation Day, this message calls every believer to anchor their faith in Sola Scriptura, examine all teaching like the noble Bereans, and exalt Christ as the sole Head and Mediator of the Church.
Key Scripture References:
• Colossians | 1:18
• 1 Timothy | 2:5
• 1 Thessalonians | 5:12–13
• Acts | 17:11
• Romans | 3:4
We invite you to listen, test everything against the infallible Word of God, and join us in giving Christ total pre-eminence in your heart and worship.
