South Africa's mining industry remains one of the country's most significant economic sectors, contributing to job creation, industrial development and export earnings. While mining has traditionally been dominated by large corporations and male leadership, there has been increasing emphasis on transformation, inclusivity and the participation of black-owned and women-owned enterprises within the sector. Businesses that provide mining equipment, industrial supplies and support services play a crucial role in ensuring mining operations run efficiently and sustainably.
One such business is Marumo Mkhonto's company, Magadine Business Enterprise (Pty) Ltd, a 100% black women-owned mining and industrial supply company established in 2016. As Managing Director, Marumo Mkhonto oversees the company's operations, strategic direction and growth initiatives. The company has expanded its footprint within the mining sector and works with multiple platinum and chrome mines in its operating region.
