The private sector is being urged to play a leading role in the restoration and rejuvenation of the Johannesburg High Court, with the ambitious project expected to cost approximately R360 million.
The call was made by Jozi My Jozi chairman Professor Maurice Radebe during an event in Johannesburg on Thursday evening, attended by Public Works and Infrastructure Minister Dean Macpherson, Deputy Chief Justice Dunstan Mlambo, Acting Deputy Judge President of the Gauteng Division of the High Court Lebogang Modiba and retired Deputy Judge President Roland Sutherland.
Radebe said the restoration of the landmark court building was about more than repairing ageing infrastructure, arguing that it was directly linked to protecting South Africans’ constitutional right to access justice.
