PUKfm speaks to Mr Ben Bole, HOD at the North West Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA), following the completion of the COGTA and NWU Graduate Empowerment Programme.
Launched in 2023, the three-year programme placed 100 graduates across 22 municipalities, providing them with practical workplace experience, professional development and exposure to various fields within local government.
With 19 graduates already absorbed by various institutions, the programme highlights the importance of creating meaningful pathways from higher education into the workplace.
