Fresh and Thato spoke to The Sowetan Deputy Editor, Thabiso Thakali on what to make of a Soweto Lottery grant scam story, experienced by residents of Protea Glen Ext 3 who were promised a state-of-the-art sports complex complete with a swimming pool, basketball courts and recreation facilities. A billboard even went up to show the community what was coming. But nothing was ever built and instead, a Special Investigating Unit probe has found that R9 million meant for that facility was allegedly funnelled among ten individuals, including four employees of the National Lotteries Commission itself.
