IN CONVERSATION WITH Nompumelelo Mpumie Mkhonza, March and March Organising Committee

This serves to formally lodge the grievances of March and March regarding the severe operational restrictions and lack of standard institutional support for our community initiative scheduled to take place tomorrow.
We are escalating this to both the Station Commander and the media to ensure full transparency. Our primary grievances are:
Inadequate Vehicle Allocation: The Station Commander has restricted our entire procession to only one authorized vehicle. This restriction is a severe safety risk given the expected turnout and is entirely insufficient to manage safety and logistics.
Lack of Engagement: There has been a distinct failure from the office of the Station Commander to meaningfully consult with or address the core logistical concerns raised by our organizers.
Absence of Crucial Stakeholders: Despite the community-wide importance of this event, key institutional stakeholders—including SARS, Home Affairs, Labour, and Human Settlements—have indicated they will not be present or participating tomorrow.
As an independent community initiative, March and March has been left to navigate these deep operational hurdles with minimal state alignment or support. We believe the Station Commander's current stance avoids necessary institutional accountability.
