Lungile Zaphi on The Jazz Standard with Brenda Sisane

In Jabavu, Soweto, there is a centre where a child can walk through the door with nothing but curiosity—and walk out, years later, with a scholarship to one of the world's great music institutions. It is called the Morris Isaacson Centre for Music. The centre is closely tied to the history of June 16; the Morris Isaacson High School, situated side by side with the centre, is where the 1976 Uprising started, and where the film Sarafina! was shot.

This is the ground where young people once stood and said: we will not be diminished and today we are joined by the Centre's Director, Lungile Zaphi, to talk about the nooks and crannies of it all.
