Dr Vuyiswa Kumalo
Is a Medical Officer who earned her medical degree from the University of Cape
Town and subsequently obtained a diploma in Primary Emergency Care, which
led her to practice maritime medicine as a ship physician. She later transitioned
into clinical trial research at the South African Medical Research Council’s HIV
Prevention Unit.
This experience inspired her to pursue a fellowship in Public Health Medicine at
the University of Witwatersrand. She is currently an MMed Public Health
Medicine candidate and serves as a Medical Officer in the Outbreak Response
Unit within the Division of Public Health Surveillance and Response at the
National Institute for Communicable Diseases.
