Kenneth Nzama, professionally known as DJ Kenzhero, is one of Johannesburg’s most influential DJs, blending hip-hop, soul, funk and jazz. Born in 1976, he began his career in 1998, DJing at poetry sessions across the city, and became a pioneer of South Africa’s hip-hop DJ scene.

Kenzhero co-owns The Artivist in Braamfontein, a bar, restaurant and gallery launched in 2018 with Bradley Williams. The venue has become a cultural hub, with rotating art exhibitions, curated music and Untitled Basement, which has hosted more than 400 performances.

The Artivist reflects his vision of creating spaces where art, music, food and community converge. His earlier projects include the Party People series (2006–2012), Obrigado and Sound Supreme. Through his ventures, Kenzhero continues to nurture Johannesburg’s creative pulse while honouring its diverse musical heritage.
