: Ayanda Mogalekwena is an MSc Zoology student at
the University of Pretoria’s Department of Zoology and
Entomology, where she studies ecological corridors and
terrestrial ecology. She holds a BSc in Environmental Science
and a BSc Honours in Zoology, with a focus on aquaculture
and wastewater management. Ayanda is not only dedicated to
research but also to science communication and outreach, cohosting the ACESS High School Program in Mamelodi, which
brings an Africanised perspective on climate change into
classrooms. Through her volunteer work and teaching, she
inspires the next generation of young scientists, especially
those from underrepresented backgrounds
