The trade dispute between the US and China took a new turn on Friday, as US President Donald Trump threatened 100% tariffs in response to Chinese measures against the US such as export controls on rare earths. Markets responded negatively to the news, says Chris Holdsworth, Chief Investment Strategist, Investec Wealth & Investment International, but the key move was perhaps in the US dollar, which no longer seems to be behaving as a safe haven.
