Jonathan Boynton-Lee is a versatile and accomplished South
African actor, filmmaker, and television presenter, renowned for
his dynamic presence on screen and behind the camera. With a
career spanning theatre, television, film, and commercial work,
Jonathan has become one of South Africa’s most celebrated
entertainers. He gained national recognition as the winner of the
Top Billing Presenter Search and later Season 7 of Strictly Come
Dancing SA, making him the first South African,and reportedly the
world’s first, to win two prime-time reality shows. His on-screen
versatility has been showcased in hit local films like Baby Mamas,
3 Days to Go, and Hell Trip, as well as in popular television
productions including Abo Mzala, Ses’Top La, Isidingo,
Binnelanders, Giyani, and Generations. Beyond acting, he has
presented for major shows such as Top Billing, Man Cave, and
Tropika Island of Treasure, while working with high-profile brands
in both commercials and modeling campaigns.
An accomplished filmmaker and creative visionary, Jonathan has
written, directed, and produced award-winning theatre, short
films, commercials, and documentaries. His feature films,
including Jozi Kings and the recently released action-comedy Cop
& A Half, highlight his ability to blend storytelling, action, and local
culture with global appeal. As a co-writer, co-producer, and lead
actor in Cop & A Half, Jonathan demonstrates a rare mastery of
juggling multiple creative roles, bringing authentic South African
energy to the screen. In addition to his professional
achievements, he is deeply committed to philanthropy and
adventure, supporting organizations such as Princess Alice
Adoption Home and Reach for a Dream Foundation, while raising
awareness for shark conservation through his daring free-diving
pursuits.
