Kleinfontein Cries Foul Over Court Battle with Tshwane

Loading player...
Tensions are rising between the City of Tshwane and Kleinfontein. The metro has served Kleinfontein with a court notice, demanding a fresh land-use application that meets today’s bylaws. Tshwane argues the current application, filed back in 2013, is outdated and non-compliant. Kleinfontein is one of 17 settlements the city deems illegal or improperly zoned. Spokesperson Dannie de Beer says a new application would be expensive and unnecessary. Phemelo speaks to Tshwane’s MMC for Human Settlements, Aaron Maluleka, and Dannie de Beer from Kleinfontein as they weigh in on the legal and political storm brewing over this controversial case.
