Water and Sanitation Minister Pemmy Majodina has announced that Johannesburg Water will be throttling water in the City of Johannesburg from Thursday 14th of November until the water system has fully recovered. This comes as the department attempts to address the water supply challenges faced by the City and Gauteng province. Johannesburg has been facing a severe water crisis due to population growth, illegal connections, and damaged infrastructure. Majodina says Johannesburg Water aims to reduce water consumption to 175 litres per person per day, compared with the current rate of 270 litres per capita per day.
