Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra’s Youth Education programme was established in 2003 to provide access to music for young people aged six to 25, often from marginalised communities. It provides them with a safe after-schools alternative and enables them to master an instrument, perform in public and build their self-esteem. The CPO’s vast youth education programme is the most successful in the country and is on track to transforming South Africa’s orchestras.
