Author Yewande Omotoso says she used her latest novel to delve into the interesting ways we grieve ; like trying on a pair of shoes that used to belong to a loved one , or examining knick-knacks we didn't even know they owned.

"An Unusual Grief" has been short-listed for this year's fiction prize at The Sunday Times Literary Awards in partnership with Exclusive Books.

It's an unflinching story about a grief-stricken mother who tries to make sense of her daughter's suicide.
