Just two games later Pieter was banned for 90 days after a fight broke out against Canada. Before that he made his debut against the All Blacks upon the Boks’ return to international rugby. In this exclusive interview Pieter shares never-before-heard stories about the behind the scenes quarrels that marred the dawn of professionalism. He says the home series defeat to New Zealand was inevitable given the unprofessional manner the administrators were dealing with the players.
