• In future Spanish clubs may no longer sign Brazilian players. In 2017 Brazil star and former Real Madrid forward Robinho was sentenced to 9 years in jail for sexual assault while Neymar was playing for Barcelona back in 2016 he was accused of sexual assault that led to termination of his Nike deal.

• Well on that rather wet note, there are concerns that the Vaal dam could burst its banks, leading to a massive disaster for communities living close to the dam and riverbank. Torrential rains that have gripped the country over the past few weeks have led to an overfull Vaal dam. The dam is 120% full.

• Staying on that money note, labour minister Thulas Nxesi has put into law that the national minimum wage will be set to R25.42 per hour. From 1 March, a domestic worker who averages 20 days of 8 hours each will have to be paid more than r4,000 for the first time, in terms of new minimum-wage rules published yesterday.
