So in 2021 Turkey president Recep Tayyip Erdogan sent a national statement declaring the change in name, saying “the word Turkiye represents and expresses the culture, civilisation, and values of the Turkish nation in the best way”.
There’s always been talk of changing South Africa to an actual name instead of a direction, something like Azania or Mzansi.
