The announcement of the 2022 matric results mean it is that time in this year when parents of successful matriculants may need to take action to finalize the enrolment of their children for their next schooling life stage with the start of tertiary education. For those fortunate enough to have secured bursaries and sponsorships, the only thing to worry about is getting their children settled into their new college or university environments.
Bursaries are few and far in between and this, unfortunately places a heavy financial load on parents to fund their children’s tertiary education. Very few parents can afford the additional costs which in most cases far exceed what they paid for secondary schooling. For those who have not saved for their children’s tertiary education, the only option, apart from simply not studying, is to borrow money to fund their children’s further education.
