Mthunzi Mvubu has been a sideman for many great acts and it was only a matter of time for him to get here.

This is a project that captures the essence of who Mthunzi is as a human being and a jazz scholar, having been tutored and influenced by many greats.

The album is a walk through of these many influences - a mixed bag of jazz goodies - traversing different contemporary styles - as well as at times showing his prowess on the flute, his second instrument after the alto horn.

Indeed a project on everyone’s lips and he is a composer, arranger, saxophonist and flautist.

He joined us this Sunday.
