Tutu Puoane is one of the exciting voices on the international jazz scene today.
A scholar of music, a vocalist, composer and collaborator who spent some time at the Royal Conservatory in the Netherlands, finally settling down in Antwerp, Belgium.
Two of her albums, ‘Quiet Now’ and ‘Mama Africa’ (a collaboration with the Brussels Jazz Orchestra) were awarded a South African Music Award (SAMA) for Best Jazz Album (in 2010 and 2011).
Besides music, Tutu has also been more and more involved with theatre, playing a part in the dance theatre production “Speak Low If You Speak Love” including being one of the actresses in an all-star cast of the very successful and award-winning “Dear Winnie”production.
She spoke to us on The K Jazz Show about her new South African Tour that kicks off in July 2022.
